hi stranger!

This is what my life has looked like for the past few weeks.
Snuggled up with a blanket.
Text book.
(thank you diligent students who used the book before me and highlighted the pages up for me!)
and diet mountain dew. aka: crack.

Yesterday while I was doing work, I looked over and noticed this buffalo asleep.
I was officially jealous of my cat for the first time ever.

This weekend I went and splurged on something for myself for the first time in....i don't know how long! i've always been that annoying person who saves all of their money. it literally pains me when i have to pay a bill and see my bank account go from so high to so low.

But, I decided I needed to treat myself.
And boy did i!

Hello, yellow & beautiful cookware!
That color just screams happy.
Thanks, Rachel Ray--
These add so much joy to my kitchen!
I'm in love, guys. :)
Hopefully this is the official end of my hiatus. But, I seriously doubt it.
School & work are killllllling me slowly.
But, it will be worth it in the end....

humphrey allen poe & other randomness

Who said that going to grad school full-time and working a full-time job was a good idea?
OH right.
That would be me.

I'll be real:
I'm stressed.
And tired.
And it's only week 3 of attempting to juggle a job and school.

I keep telling myself that i'm going to be fine.
Because I will be.
I always make it work--always.
So even if it means i get a few less hours of sleep,
my apartment gets a tad bit messy,
i don't blog as much as i'd like to,
and i have absolutely no social life,
well, that's a price i will just have to pay.

In other news,
I adopted a bunny.
His name is Humphrey Allen Poe.
And my cat's name has been revised:
She is now Emily Dickinson (but I still just call her Emily.)

So let me introduce you.
This is Humphrey.
Or Hump Hump for short. :)

Yup. He's kind of adorable.
He's a Holland Lop, just in case you're wondering.

Oh, and my cat is afraid of him.
Feel free to chuckle at this next video:

As you can tell, Emily is not sure what to think about Mister Humphrey.
She's a scared-y cat. Literally.

But, I like to think that they will eventually be best buddies.
A girl can dream, right? :)

Hopefully this week I can squeeze more time in for blogging,
because I have certainly missed it.
It feels so good to be writing right now for fun, instead of writing some stiff paper.
(Yup. On the first day of class I was assigned 3 papers, 1 video project, and warned about a quiz I will be taking on Tuesday. Hello to you too, grad school!)

So sorry that I haven't been around lately.
I started grad school and boy has it kept me busy!
Working a FT job and going to school FT is no joke.

I'm going to use tomorrow evening to catch up completely on school work.
And, then hopefully I can come back to the blogging world by Saturday. :)

7 Questions: 5/23/2012

hey guyssssss.
it's wednesday! yayayay!
it's 7 questions time! yayayay!

go thank miss gentri lee for creating such an awesome link party! (and then participate on your blog too!)

As always, here is my silly photo:

{You're probably thinking "what's so silly about this photo?" Well, ladies and gentlemen, do you see that HUGE smile on my face? It's there because I had just worked up the courage to ask him for a photo. Who is he? None other than the president of the university i went to...he was kind of a big deal. And, by kind of, I mean that people rarely saw him and if you did it was classified as a "Papa D sighting!" The fact that I got my picture with him is epic...but ridiculous!}

1. What's your favorite style for home decor? (eclectic, modern, shabby chic, etc.)
I am a HUGE fan of vintage/rustic meets girly. I know that makes no sense, but here is an example:

{The trunk is my grandfather's from WWII. The lamp gives off a feminine touch. LOVE! Also, sorry for the terrible photo--it's from when I first moved into my apartment.}

2. What is the best trip you have EVER been on?
Back in high school my parents were awesome and footed the bill for me to go to Europe. It was such an amazing opportunity, and I hope one day I can find the time to go back!

3. If you could have an exotic pet, what would it be and why?
I'm not sure if this is "exotic" butttttttt, I think mini pigs are absolutely adorable! i would never ever get one, but it's fun to think about!

4. Do you snore? (you can be honest, we're all friends here.)
Only if i am REALLY tired. But on a regular night i just make this little wheezy/sigh noise. I'm sure it's just as annoying as snoring though.

5. Your car breaks down on the side of the road, what do you do?
I freak out. I might cry. I would probably say a few choice curse words. And, then depending on where i broke down at I would either call friends or family--whichever was closest.

6. What's one item that has been on your wishlist lately?
i have been really really really really really wanting one of these babies lately:

It's supposed to work WONDERS for your skin. It's currently a little under $100 right now...hoping that price keeps a'droppin! ;)

7. It's almost summer (or winter if you live in the Southern Hemisphere), what are you looking forward to most?
now that i'm living in the "big kid world" summer doesn't seem all that different. i work. i now go to grad school. but hopefully i can take a mini vacation before my second semester of grad school starts in the fall!

sweet tea & smiles

while reading through my usual blogs, i came across a grand idea from this blog. (which had actually been adapted from this blog.) so here is my spin on it!:

if we were hanging out today, i would invite you into my little apartment and offer you a big glass of southern hospitality (aka cold sweet tea.)

i would tell you about the things that have been weighing on my heart.

how every day i feel a different emotion.
some days i'm incredibly happy.
some days i'm incredibly sad.

i would tell you that i start grad school tomorrow, and how i am oh so very nervous.
i absolutely cannot wait, but i am terrified.
what if i fail?
working a full-time job and going to grad school full-time is certainly doable...but, what if it's not exactly doable for me?

we would laugh at my cat, who i sometimes like to call "water buffalo."
she would cuddle in your lap and purrrrrrrr and distract us for a few minutes.

{the water buffalo in her natural habitat}

i would tell you that my job is stressful and daunting and it's making me tired.
but, i would also tell you that i feel a sense of pride and accomplishment at the end of every workday.
i like to think i'm making a difference in the lives of these people.

i would share about my latest craft projects.
and how good it feels to be making time to do things i enjoy--like sew and craft.

and while we sipped on our tea and i laughed and shared,
i hope you would share too.
